kurimanzutto, one of the most important contemporary art galleries in Mexico City, celebrated its twenty-third anniversary in 2022, coinciding with the opening of its new space in New York City.

As part of this dual celebration, a publication/chronology was conceived to compile the gallery's most significant moments throughout its history. Additionally, an invitation in the form of a poster was created, summarizing the contents of the booklet through a collage of stunning imagery.

Poster/Invitation

With an extended format of 90 cm x 60 cm, this invitation to the gallery's opening exhibition in New York is divided into two parts:

The exterior features a grid-like composition of photographs showcasing artworks and artists. The cover displays an image from the invitation to the gallery's first exhibition, accompanied by a text signed by the founding partners.

Exterior & Interior of 99-22 poster invitation

This piece serves not only as an invitation but also as a gift for the attendees.

Unfolded poster [interior]

On the inside, Alejandro Magallanes presents a reinterpretation to one of the most iconic symbols of the city, the famous "I NY" by Milton Glaser. In this homage, the letters NY are replaced with KM, the acronym for kurimanzutto.

99–22 Booklet

The editorial piece extends from the poster, unfolding a visual journey through the exhibitions curated by kurimanzutto over its 23-year history. The design incorporates visual moments highlighted with colors and small elements like invitations, providing a less formal reminder of the exhibitions.

By revisiting and capturing these moments within this editorial piece, kurimanzutto, as an independent gallery, assembles a work composed of small fragments of contemporary culture from Mexico City and the country, which are essential to understanding the current art scene.
